Goat Cheese & Green Onion Scones

Total Time: 45 mins Preparation Time: 20 mins Cook Time: 25 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 12
  • 2 cups unbleached all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground pepper
  • 4 ounces chilled soft mild goat cheese, crumbled (montrachet)
  • 3 large green onions, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup chilled half-and-half
  • 1 large egg

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 375°f.
  • 2 mix first 5 ingredients in large bowl.
  • 3 add cheese and green onions and toss with fork.
  • 4 beat half and half and egg to blend in small bowl.
  • 5 stir egg mixture into dry ingredients and mix gently until dough forms.
  • 6 divide dough in half.
  • 7 on lightly floured surface, flatten.
  • 8 each piece into 3/4-inch thick round.
  • 9 cut each round into 6 wedges.
  • 10 transfer wedges to baking sheet, spacing evenly.
  • 11 bake scones until tops are brown, about 25 minutes.
  • 12 cool 10 minutes.
  • 13 serve warm.
