Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons shortening
- 2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup shredded cheese
- 1/2-2/3 cup water
Recipe
- 1 cut shortening into flour mixed with salt. add cheese. stir in enough water to make soft dough. knead on floured surface for about 10 minutes. let rest 10 minutes.
- 2 roll very thin, to 16x10 inches, on floured surface. cut into 2-1/2 inch circles. fry in deep hot fat (385 degrees) till puffed and golden, 2 to 3 minutes, turning once. drain.
