Triple-chocolate Mousse Cake

Total Time: 5 hrs 25 mins Preparation Time: 25 mins Cook Time: 5 hrs

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup chocolate syrup
  • 1 chocolate cake mix, 2 layer size
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/3 cup oil
  • 7 eggs, divided
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 (12 ounce) can evaporated milk
  • 4 semi-sweet chocolate baking squares, melted
  • 1 cup cool whip, thawed

Recipe

  • 1 heat oven to 375.
  • 2 spray 12-cup fluted tube pan with cooking spray.
  • 3 pour in chocolate syrup.
  • 4 beat cake mix, water, oil and 3 eggs with mixer 2 minutes or until well blended.
  • 5 blend in sour cream.
  • 6 pour over syrup in pan.
  • 7 beat cream cheese and sugar with mixer until blended.
  • 8 add remaining eggs, mix well.
  • 9 blend in milk and chocolate.
  • 10 gently spoon over cake batter.
  • 11 cover with foil sprayed with cooking spray, sprayed side down.
  • 12 place tube pan in large pan.
  • 13 add 2 inches water to larger pan.
  • 14 bake 1 1/2 hours or until toothpick comes out clean.
  • 15 cool on wire rack.
  • 16 refrigerate 2 hours.
  • 17 invert cake onto plate, remove pan.
  • 18 serve with cool whip.
