Protein Packed Mac & Cheese

Total Time: 25 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 15 mins

Ingredients

  • 2 cups uncooked whole grain elbow macaroni
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 3 tablespoons flour
  • 1 cup nonfat milk
  • 8 ounces american cheese, cubed (velveetaâ® or kraftâ®)
  • 1 link half of 13 . 5 ounce package johnsonvilleâ® smoked or three cheese italian style premium cooking sausage, quartered and sliced

Recipe

  • 1 cook macaroni according to package directions; drain.
  • 2 meanwhile, in another saucepan, melt butter over medium heat.
  • 3 stir in flour until smooth; gradually whisk in milk.
  • 4 bring to a boil, stirring constantly. cook and stir for 2 minutes or until thickened.
  • 5 add cheese; cook and stir until melted.
  • 6 stir in macaroni and sausage.
  • 7 enjoy.
